SMEACS - Fire Agency Recovery Support

FYI and dissemination as necessary.
I will provide an update to the current deployment and any future requests from SCC for flood support and IMT roles.
  • At this stage ST 1421D2 will return Sunday evening as initially planned.
    • Arrangements to be made to return crews to their home location Sunday evening
    • I will be finding out where they will return and what time they are expected, first thing tomorrow and will advise accordingly
    • I have tasked the SCC with finding out for sure that 1421 is returning and that no additional support is required in the way of Firefighting vehicles, Eg Tanker
      • I expect a call late tonight or in the morning to confirm.
  • Ground Observers are deployed to Horsham and Epsom ICCs
    • Horsham GOBs working and expected to return tomorrow. Seeking confirmation from SCC and FO Elso(no answer)
    • Epsom GOBs working and have been deployed for an extra day and will now return Sunday, Hopkins and Holland vacancies filled
    • Request for 3 GOBs teams, unable to fill, provided advice that can supply one team for 2 days beginning Monday, Walsh and Maxwell(Melton DO aware)
  • Community recovery assessment teams(CRAT): As defined in the attached SMEACS briefing note.
    • Expected make up of teams
      • 1 X FCV, 4wd vehicle
      • 1 X STL endorsed member, Crew leader of vehicle
      • 1 X Off road endorsed driver
      • Opt 1 X Pencillor/assistant at groups discretion
    • No requests or offers for resources, has been received as yet. I expect that as of tomorrow morning (Sunday 23/1/2011) requests to supply a CRAT team or 3 may occur.
    • This being the case I would like all Groups to begin planning for a Group based CRAT team to be available for deployment Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. I realize that to organize a team for tomorrow is a stretch since one has not been requested, but if some discussion at least cold take place for a Monday deployment it would be appreciated.
  • D14 Ops staff deployment: Currently AOO Simon Gough has been deployed to Swan Hill and is working closely with the local community in Charlton. I have contacted Simon and requested some advice on when we can expect him to return. The SCC has been tasked to provide us the same information, Simon’s return to D14 and whether or not we are to provide relief for that position in Swan Hill/Charlton.
A state situation report will follow on from this email,

Please call me if there are any concerns etc.

From speaking to the deployed members today the work is rewarding and very much appreciated by local community members, I believe that the locals really appreciate seeing CFA members making a difference.

Stay safe
