We are getting new pagers, in theory before the start of the fire season.  This is what they look like.   Yes, a bit "back to the future" - based on the old Orange pagers.

Radio procedures

Hi All,

Just a reminder of a comment made by GO McHugh at the last Group Meeting:

There is no need to ask Vicfire for “Further Information”. Vicfire must (and is) always advising further information if they have it – but, they may take their time to get all responding appliances turned out so that they only have to give this information once. They know that it takes a little time to get to the incident so they have time to give all further information.

Asking whether they have any further information only creates unnecessary radio traffic and takes up air time.

Please ensure that all members are made aware of this. Many thanks

Bunker boot roll out - Monday 19th October, 2011

There will be a fitting of Bunker Boots for all members on Monday 19th October, 2011 between 16:00 and 21:00.

All members with low structure qualifications, or who are intending on getting low structure qualifications, please attend the station at this time for fitting.

Solar Panels

A question came up recently (from Hamid, I think) regarding issues with solar panels on buildings & houses.

CFA have issued a Operations Bulleting on this: http://cfaonline.cfa.vic.gov.au/mycfa/Show?pageId=displayDoc&docId=013083

It is found in the Operations > Operations Manuals > Operations Bulletins page of CFA Online.

You need a CFA Online login to get access to the document.  All members have a log in but it needs to be activated by Geoff.  If you have not requested its activation, or if you have forgotten your user id and password, please contact Geoff to get it established.

Overall fuel hazard assessment guide - 4th ed

DSE have updated the fuel hazard assessment guide.  Refer attached for a soft copy of it.  It takes into account an additional layer of fuel, which I believe results in a higher tonnes/hectare measurement for some areas.
