Community Safety update for Fire Ready Road show

Dear Community Safety Team,

I’m writing to make sure everyone is informed about the FireReady Roadshow, which will be launched to the media tomorrow morning.

The FireReady Roadshow will be visiting 41 locations around the State from 4 December 2010 – 13 February 2011, with the aim of raising awareness of the need for everyone to have a bushfire survival plan - including residents, holiday makers and day visitors.

Attendees can get bushfire information and advice from local fire experts and government representatives, and there will be giveaways and kids activities for the whole family at each event. Events will also include a BBQ, ‘slushy’ drinks machine, fire truck and Captain Koala wherever possible.

While the FireReady Roadshow is a whole-of-government campaign coordinated by the Department of Justice (DOJ), there will be a strong CFA focus and local brigades will be attending most (if not all) events alongside government and fire agencies. It is supported by a DOJ media campaign that includes print, radio and television advertising - and it will be great exposure for our brigades.

I ask that everyone familiarises themselves with the FireReady Roadshow locations, and ask that we support these events and make the most out of this opportunity. You can visit the CFA website for more information about CFA activities during the week, and read the FireReady Roadshow article on CFA Connect for a more detailed overview. I’ll be giving daily updates through my Twitter account (@LisaCFA). An event schedule is also attached.

Thanks to all the volunteers and staff that are working to bring this exciting campaign to our communities.
