FEEDBACK: D14 Exercise - Sunday 5th December

I would like to thank everyone that was involved in last weeks exercise. An exercise of that size and scale requires everyone involved to participate in the spirit for which it is intended to be a success. This includes the crews on the trucks, the facilitators and the people that undertook roles at the ICC & “Div Comm”, without the commitment and enthusiasm that everyone displayed we would not have had such a successful outcome.

As you are all aware the reason that we conduct these exercises is too test our systems and allow us to improve our operational response capacity. While some of you have already called or emailed me some feedback, can I ask that over the next few weeks you speak with the members that participated at the various levels and then get their comment back to me. This will not only allow us to review the exercise against the aims but also take any learning’s from the day to improve training or procedures as required.

We are looking for constructive feedback and as such, I would like to look at things that went well and those that didn’t go so well. As already stated, the aim is too improved or enhanced our systems to ensure that we are better prepared for an incident. In addition to that we are also looking for feedback on the exercise itself, this will be used to improve future exercises to ensure maximum benefit for all participants.

To assist in the collating of feedback can I ask that you provide feedback in two sections, see below, and that you have it to me by Friday the 14th January.
  • CFA Operations:
    • Systems issues, Identified training gaps, PPC, Safety, Command & Control, inter agency issues.
  • Exercise Coordination:
    • Format, Timing (Start/Finish), Length of exercise, Communication, did anything effect the operations of the exercise?
Please Note: The points above are a guide so please feel free to add to these as required.

Once the feedback is received and the exercise debrief concluded a report on the learning’s from the exercise will be sent out.

If you would like to discuss anything in more detail, please feel free to give me a call.

Thanks again
